Abstract

This text is conceived and designed as support material for the development of a Special Mathematics course, the last one in the traditional curricular structure of the Mathematics area in Engineering programs. The text is structured in three large thematic units: the first one deals with the Laplace transform focused on the solution of initial value problems, the second one presents the elements of complex variable calculus and the last one deals with the basic topics of Fourier analysis.
The way the text is structured and the way the different topics are presented correspond to the logical sequence of their construction from the mathematical point of view and were specially oriented by the teaching experience of the authors with the students of the subject of Special Mathematics, in the programs of Electronic Engineering and Systems Engineering, of the Faculty of Basic Sciences and Engineering of the Universidad de los Llanos.
