Abstract
The ecosystems of the Orinoquia provide environmental services associated with regulation, provisioning and culture. The natural reserves in the Orinoquia are protected areas of importance for wildlife, especially those at risk of extinction. They are areas that provide ecosystem services to the urban area of Villavicencio and, at the same time, are examples of environmental conservation and welfare scenarios. On the other hand, agroecosystems have a high biological richness. However, anthropogenic activities, such as the introduction of exotic species, pollution, illegal logging, mining, forest fires and urbanization due to population growth, have diminished the fauna and flora species of all biological groups. For this reason, the academy plays a fundamental role in the formation of people aware of the fragility of natural wealth and the sustainable use of biological resources. Ecosistemas tropicales y sus conflictos: estudios de caso en el Piedemonte de la Orinoquía is a book that gathers the results of sampling and analysis of areas of great ecological importance in the Orinoquia, specifically in the municipality of Villavicencio.
